Statlander's victory makes her the fifth competitor to win an EVE championship without being a regular performer, joining former titleholders Utami Hayashishita and Yuu, making her the third overall in the belt's lineage. The title switch might be the genesis of unlocking that proverbial “forbidden door” and shifting towards, if not a working relationship with EVE, but towards something bigger. It was announced that Skye Blue and Julia Hart will be making their Pro Wrestling: EVE debuts on August 31st.
Now what’s the “bigger” thing…
In an interview with GrappleTheory, Will Ospreay expressed his readiness to help the promotion organize its biggest show yet. He mentioned his connections with STARDOM, the European wrestling scene, and the AEW women's locker room, highlighting that wrestlers like Skye Blue and Willow Nightingale are already interested in collaborating with EVE. He believes that this collaboration is likely to occur by the end of the year. Ospreay pointed out that EVE has previously set the record for the highest gate for a women’s wrestling event in Europe. Specifically, EVE broke attendance records at York Hall in 2018 with "Wrestle Queendom," which attracted 1,000 patrons.
“There is momentum on our side right now, and there’s something in me that really wants to do something daring. I want to break that record,” — Ospreay stated.
The likelihood of this major women's event happening is closer than we initially thought. Ospreay is a well-traveled individual who has competed in various locations. The relationships he has built throughout his career could play a significant role in helping to realize his and Dan’s vision. All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has established a strong relationship with Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) and has connections with several other promotions, including Bushiroad (which encompasses STARDOM and New Japan Pro Wrestling), Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), and Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling, among others. Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that Mercedes Moné is a multi-faceted champion right now, holding five belts from different promotions. It should also be noted that STARDOM recently achieved its highest gate in company history in April, with their event, “All Star Grand Queendom,” drawing an attendance of at least 7,503 fans. The show featured six title matches, including Syuri challenging Mayu Iwatani for the IWGP Women’s Championship and a Championship vs. Career match where Saya Kamitani defended the red belt against Tam Nakano.

In June, they secured a title shot by defeating “Pretty Psycho” (Amira Blair and Zoe Lucas) in a number one contenders match at the event "Hit Me Baby One More Time,” and their title opportunity was set for the following month’s return to London. The champions, “Hard Up North” (Harley Hudson and Lucy Sky), faced their second title defense, but it marked their downfall, as Triple B entered the match on a winning streak of three consecutive victories in EVE’s tag team division. Emersyn Jayne is a former Triple Crown Champion in EVE, having held the flagship title, tag team belts twice, and the International Championship. Although she has competed for the title in the past, including an unsuccessful challenge against Yuu for the strap back in 2023, this marks Rhio’s first Pro Wrestling: EVE title win.
In a separate confrontation, Nattie Niedhart charged at Promise Braxton head-on, nearly toppling her in a standoff before subsequently dominating her on the canvas…
Promise Braxton made headlines with her remarks, stating, “You don’t have it. You’re washed,” which seemed to resonate deeply with the veteran Nattie Niedhart. It was a display of technical mastery in the ring, as Braxton utilized her speed and continuously twisted and contorted Niedhart's body as part of her strategy to bring her opponent down to size. However, Niedhart was able to reverse Braxton's mat-based grappling attempts at every angle, which was to be expected given her experience.
The competitors exchanged blows as the match escalated, eventually brawling outside the ring and slamming each other into the guardrails. Braxton attempted to secure a submission victory by applying Niedhart's family’s signature maneuver, the Sharpshooter. However, this decision would ultimately come back to haunt her. Niedhart focused and successfully trapped Braxton in the ring's center, where she ultimately lost consciousness due to the excruciating pain of the hold, leading to Niedhart being declared the winner by knockout.

Nattie Niedhart letting Promise Braxton know it's fair game |
Niedhart found herself in this predicament after her commitment to the sport was questioned by the locker room’s trainer, Booker T, who tried calling her bluff and suggested that she no longer possessed the “hunger” to compete in the ring. It was highlighted in the commentary that Nattie’s extensive experience has earned her numerous awards and accolades. Still, she’s not receiving the respect she’s owed — this has been a years-long conversation that’s surrounded Niedhart. She’s trained multiple iterations of the women’s division and continues to guide developmental through the main roster, and is often credited with evolving many women’s in-ring skills, often on short notice. Despite holding both singles and tag team championships, Nattie has appeared to be the lowest on the company’s priority list when it comes to positioning in storylines.
Around this time last year, it was reported that Niedhart had re-signed with WWE after her previous five-year deal expired. In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Niedhart revealed that she had considered exploring opportunities outside the company. However, a conversation with Triple H helped her gain clarity on the changes she needed in her new contract to ensure it aligned with her best interests. She has been signed with WWE since January 2007 and is effectively one of the longest-tenured women in the company. Former ring announcer, Lillian Garcia, had worked in the company for seventeen years before her exit in 2016 — Nattie’s since lapped her at eighteen years and counting.
The independent scene has changed significantly since her signing, and most of her peers have retired. When she first began working in WWE’s developmental territory, there was only one other company with television exposure, while other promotions relied on DVD distribution and did not leverage streaming. Nattie’s tenure with WWE has withstood the numerous internal restructurings it has endured throughout the years and the releases of former partners and opponents — especially in 2012 where the division had lost multiple former Divas Champions like Beth Phoenix due to creative frustrations, Kelly Kelly for wanting time off to recover from a nagging neck injury and wanting to explore other opportunities, and the Bellas declined to renew their contracts to pursue other interests. Eve Torres requested her release that December, with her departure taking place the following month in January 2013 — Kharma (Awesome Kong) and Maxine (Karlee Perez) were also main roster acts that got released in 2012.
After twenty-five years in the business, Niedhart has remained a presence within the women’s division, continuing to appear on television while many of her counterparts have been relegated to catering. Earlier this year, she accepted her first indie booking in nearly two decades. She was announced to be competing against Miyu Yamashita at Josh Barnett’s annual event, “BloodSport,” hosted by Game Changer Wrestling.

Promise Braxton with the disrespect post-match. |
The outside bookings have continued — she fought Kenzie Paige for the NWA World Women’s Championship at the “Crockett Cup” in May. Niedhart previously held the NWA SuperGirls Title in 2006, which was later rebranded as the ECCW Women’s Championship. This championship was established by the Canadian promotion Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling to generate interest in their women’s spinoff, SuperGirls Wrestling. After separating from the National Wrestling Alliance in 2011, the title was renamed during Nicole Matthews’ reign. Although Niedhart unsuccessfully challenged Tsubasa Kuragaki for the former NWA Women’s Pacific & NEO Title back in 2005, this matchup marked the first time Niedhart competed for the World Women’s Championship.
Her conflict with Promise Braxton likely wouldn’t have materialized without the stipulations she implemented into her new contract. As of 2024, the company has integrated Reality of Wrestling into its WWE: ID program. This partnership enables talent exchange between WWE and its roster without disrupting the promotion’s operations. Headlining this past Sunday’s doubleheader that evening, “Hart And Soul,” their clash from the all-women’s event has received praise from Booker T and peers alike.
Booker expounded on these thoughts on his Hall of Fame podcast, speaking on his student’s performance in the matchup:
“I can only imagine how Promise felt in there with Nattie.
I remember my Steamboat moment—being in the ring with Ricky Steamboat. I walked away from that match thinking, ‘Man, I think I got it figured out now.’ It was a master class, and I’m sure Promise will remember that night for the rest of her life. Promise didn’t look out of place at all. She didn’t look like she didn’t belong in the middle of that ring with Nattie Neidhart. I could see the learning happening in real time.”
Nattie’s been singing the praises of Promise Braxton and has even proclaimed that their match is one of her favorite matches of her career. These excursions have seemed to revitalize Niedhart in a way, especially to an audience that’s become accustomed to the smallest glimpses of her full in-ring prowess.
Now, let's move on to the rest of the card…
Aside from the main event, the show delivered consistently strong performances from start to finish. Reality of Wrestling hosted a tournament for their newly established women’s championship. The show opened with the semifinals, where Mia Friday put forth a strong effort but ultimately fell short against her opponent, Gigi Rey.

With the finalists determined, the current ROW Women’s Tag Team Champions faced off in the semi-main event to become the inaugural titleholders and the promotion’s secondary Women’s Champion. During Monroe’s match, it was mentioned that she had less experience in singles competition compared to her partner and is typically seen alongside Gigi Rey. However, her strong performances in the tournament may lead to more opportunities in singles competition. Monroe has found success outside of the promotion, having previously held the AAPW Women’s Championship twice in 2023 and the Texas All-Star Wrestling Women’s Championship in 2024.
Gigi Rey ultimately claimed victory, becoming the first-ever ROW Glory Women’s Champion after pinning Monroe with a Jackhammer. While it hasn't been emphasized, given that Rey is a former ROW Women's Champion and one-half of the reigning Tag Champions, this victory likely positions her as the first women’s Triple Crown Champion in Reality of Wrestling. Kiah Dream's latest title defense as ROW Women’s Champion was also featured on the show, where she faced the debuting Zayda Steel. Kiah last defended her title at “No Limits” in May, successfully retaining against Vert Vixen. She pinned Steel after delivering a Spinning Neckbreaker, marking her second title defense.
Overall, “Hart And Soul” was an impressive event and serves as an excellent introduction for newer fans. The women’s division is comprised of competitors with varying experience levels, all of whom demonstrate tremendous potential to become key players in the future of the business. The full show has been uploaded to Reality of Wrestling’s YouTube channel, right here.

ZONES was crowned the inaugural Evolution Strong Women’s Champion on Saturday after defeating Chi Chi in the tournament final, which concluded at Korakuen Hall. The promotion held a four-woman tournament to determine the first titleholder, with ZONES and Chi Chi advancing to the finals after their respective victories over Chanyota and Momoka Hanazono. This victory marks the first singles championship in ZONES' career, which began in 2023. She has a background in Muay Thai and bodybuilding. Pro Wrestling Evolution has announced that their upcoming event on August 6th will be headlined by ZONES, who will defend her championship against SOY at Shin Kiba 1st RING.

Wakana Uehara and Haru Kazashiro have qualified for this year’s Tokyo Princess Cup after achieving victories over Shinto Suzuki and Ivy Steele, respectively, on Saturday’s show. The promotion had pre-selected twelve participants for this year’s competition, with the additional four finalists determined through qualifying matches. Uehara and Kazashiro were the first to advance to the tournament, while Moka Miyamoto and HIMAWARI secured their spots after defeating Kaya Toribami and Pom Harajuku during Tuesday’s show at Shinjuku FACE.

A double title match has been scheduled for Marigold’s event at Korakuen Hall on Wednesday. Utami Hayashishita will defend the Marigold World Championship, while Takumi Iroha will put her GHC Women’s Championship on the line. After Iroha successfully defended her title against Victoria Suzuki with the Running Three, Hayashishita made a post-match appearance, presenting her with a single rose. Iroha accepted the rose and accepted the challenge for the Marigold World Title. The match will have a sixty-minute time limit, and the winner will take home both championships. This will be Iroha's second defense as the GHC Women’s titleholder, while it will be Hayashishita's fourth defense since winning the championship from Sareee in January.

Ringbelles Roundup and its original format were given to me by the co-founder of Ringbelles, Lee Burton. He and the late Stew Allen had founded the site in 2011 and helped introduce fans of women’s wrestling to the best on the European scene, Australia, New Zealand, and everything else in between. Their website, whose archives can be accessed here, and their podcast housed some of the best writing and conversations there was when it came to fostering an appreciation for women in the sport.
