Ringbelles Roundup (1/20/16) – Havok vs LuFisto announced, more matches added to SHINE 32, STARDOM to Europe, Io Shirai retains & more

A couple more matches have been added to SHINE 32's lineup for January 29th and it already looks like it's going to be a promising effort put on by the promotion in comparison to their last show. Santana's championship rematch against Taylor Made was one of the first matches announced and Allysin Kay's retribution for the unwanted interference from Su Yung might be justified by having an eye yanked out of Yung's head as a receipt for costing her the number one contender's win and further injuring her already badly bruised eye after the match – Get it, an eye for an "eye." One budding feud that won't get to be played out at SHINE 32 is that of the Lucha Sisters, due to one of the competitors being out of the country and starting a tour of the United Kingdom on that same day in Manchester. Leva Bates' eyes were doused with hairspray by April Hunter and the dirty trick not only helped Marti Belle win and become the new SHINE Tag Team Champion, but it was also the nail in the coffin to Yim's and Bate's sisterhood. She attacked her so-called best friend after the match and delivered a scathing promo, where she claimed to be the workhorse of the team and Bates was holding her back.

Thunderkitty's relationship with Legendary is no longer a thing after her intended chair shot for Mia back at SHINE 31 wound up cracking Brandi Wine. Malia Hosaka and Wine then interfered in her match-up, whacked her with the steel chair, and dragged an unconscious Luscious Latasha on top of her for the win. Thunderkitty then distracted Leilani Kai during her match-up against Leah Von Dutch with a beatdown on all members of the stable and cost her the match. Thunderkitty takes on the steel chair culprit, Malia Hosaka and it's no doubt that there won't be interference from the stable at some point. Also at SHINE 32 – Amy Love will be making her debut for the promotion and she may collide with Amber Gallows. Love defeated Amber Gallows in another non-title match at WrestleMerica's show on Saturday and has already gotten two unsuccessful shots at the NWA World Women's Title.

Lexie Fyfe had announced that Kimber Lee and Cherry Bomb would receive a rematch for the SHINE Tag Team Titles upon Bomb's medical clearing and return to the ring. Bomb is cleared and Lee takes on one-half of the champions, Jayme Jameson on the show, picking things back up where they left off. Barbi Hayden makes her long-awaited debut for SHINE Wrestling, as she takes on Renee Michelle. To my recollection, this is their first time going one-on-one and it should be a good look for both competitors as Michelle has another chance to impress in her return to the promotion and Hayden has an opportunity to display the finesse that was exclusive to the Texas Indy circuit for so long. Jessicka Havok and Vanessa Kraven will both be in the building and it's not known if their ongoing rivalry will be picked back up. Amanda Carolina Rodriguez, Crazy Mary Dobson, and Latasha are the other performers announced for SHINE 32, which you can pre-order here.

Kairi Hojo and Io Shirai duked it out over the World of STARDOM Championship to close the promotion's fifth-anniversary show at Korakuen Hall on Sunday. It was a hard-fought battle and it's likely one of the hardest fought for Kairi since her back-and-forth series with Meiko Satomura. The top star of the promotion and the rising star smashed into one another, as Kairi practically and reportedly lost her mind during the match and became relentless in her offense against Shirai. Taking a page out of Io's book, Kairi hit a Diving Elbow Smash onto the champion from atop the staircase and mocked Shirai's go-to strategy for fighting outside the ring by going for the aerial assault. Back in the ring, Kairi almost connected all the dots with two Diving Elbow Drops, but Io kicked out. Hojo's third attempt backfired, as Io bounced back with her version of the Tombstone Piledriver, called the "Arcoiris de Io" and a Moonsault Press to pick up her first title defense successfully.

Two additional title matches took place on Sunday's show. First up, Mayu Iwatani is now two defenses deep into her reign as High-Speed Champion after defeating a possible oncoming threat, Kay Lee Ray in the lead-up match before the main event. Iwatani grabbed hold of the blood-red locks of the Scotswoman and hoisted her up into the Dragon Suplex Hold for a successful, clean win. The second title match was for the number one contenders' to the Goddesses of STARDOM Championship. Kaitlin Diemond and Viper defeated two-thirds of the current trio's champions Evie and Kellie Skater after Viper crushed Skater with a Vader Bomb. Oedo Tai's manager, Act Yasukawa interfered in the match-up and spat sake into Evie and Skater's eyes and, in turn, helped Viper use her clear size advantage and overpower Skater with a Michinoku Driver and dragged her to the corner for the finale.

Diemond and Viper's championship match will not happen at this Sunday's show at the Osaka Higashinari Ward Community Center. Instead, they will be challenging for another championship. Again, they will be standing on the opposite sides of the squared circle to Evie and Kellie Skater, this time, Hiroyo Matsumoto and Kyoko Kimura will be joining their respective teammates, as Team Hyper Destroyers defend the Artist of STARDOM belts against all three Tai members. The Hyper Destroyers succeeded in their first title defense at the promotion's year-end show, retaining Hiromi Mimura, Jungle Kyouna, and Momo Watanabe. The titles could change hands, being that this would be the first time the heel stable has held the belts since its predecessor's reign back in 2013 and it could give good momentum for the foreign talent going into the special February 21st show.

It was announced after the main event that the next Korakuen Hall show (February 21st) will be STARDOM's roster going up against all the gaijin talent in "world selection" matches. There was a standoff following Io's title defense against Kairi, as all the foreign competitors entered the ring and stood on one side and STARDOM's wrestlers stood on the other side. Current Wonder of STARDOM Champion Santana Garrett appeared on the screen and announced she would be back in the country in time for the show; Viper clotheslined Io and a big brawl broke out in the ring between both opposing sides and it ended with the foreigners getting the upper hand and Viper laying out Io with a big body splash. World Wonder Ring STARDOM dropped a major announcement, one of their biggest since their U.S tours, that they would be sending their talent to Europe from May 20 through the 22nd.

The promotion is not going to hold stand-alone shows like they did in California, instead, they will join up with other promotions to showcase their competitors. STARDOM's three "aces" Io, Mayu Iwatani, and Kairi Hojo are the expected names to be announced for the show, but not one competitor or a title match has been announced thus far. The promotion will be traveling through the continent for three days; Association Biterroise de Catch or ABC Catch is hosting the first show of the tour on May 20th in France and it's likely that it will take place at the promotion's stomping grounds in Béziers, Languedoc. Revolution Championship Wrestling will host the second-day show in Barcelona, Spain, and British Empire Wrestling has announced that they will be present on the final day of the tour in London and the show will be part of a television taping. The weekend shows will be STARDOM's biggest attractions of the month, with their last booking before the tour will be on May 15th at Korakuen Hall.  Another thing announced is the return of the Cinderella tournament for the promotion's year-annual, big bash in April. Mayu Iwatani won last year's tourney after defeating Koguma in the finals. The entire roster of current titleholders and championship contenders were included in the one-day, fourteen-person, single-elimination tournament, as the winner received a "Cinderella" dress from Yuzuki Aikawa and had a wish carried out. Iwatani's wish for a shot at the world title was granted, as she fell to Kairi in her first title defense as champion on May 17th.

Charlotte defends the Divas Championship against her former friend, Becky Lynch at Sunday's Royal Rumble. Shockingly, this is the second time the belt's been on the line for the pay-per-view since the title's creation back in 2008. The last time the belt was defended was back in 2011 when Eve defeated Natalya in a fatal four-way match to win her second reign as champion. Charlotte and her father, Ric Flair watched on from ringside as Lynch defeated Tamina on RAW. Charlotte insisted that Lynch didn't deserve to be handed another title shot, being that she just lost one. Lynch began taunting Flair with insults and his hot temper got the best of him and landed Becky with another championship match against Charlotte... Paige has been medically cleared to compete after being out with a slight concussion. She made her first television appearance on RAW and accompanied Natalya to her match against Brie Bella. Since Total Divas is back for its newest season, this match and the reuniting of Natalya and Paige was part of playing up a storyline from the reality show

TNA

Gail Kim retained the Knockouts Championship against Awesome Kong on last night's Impact Wrestling. A big mess happened in the match and at ringside – Jade distracted the referee while Rebel attacked the champion. Madison Rayne and Velvet Sky made the save and began a tussle with the Dollhouse on the outside. Jade again interfered and held back Gail as Kong went for a spinning back fist, however, Gail ducked and Kong stopped herself from swatting Jade. Kong turned around into the Eat Defeat and Jade again interfered but was tossed onto Kong from the top rope, as Gail Kim rolled Kong up into a Jackknife hold for the three

Solo Darling and Heidi Lovelace were also announced for the event... Santana Garrett's title defense against Barbi Hayden on Saturday night ended up being a disqualification win for her. Hayden's crafty tactics cost her the Wonder of STARDOM Championship, as she pulled the referee, Kallee onto her to shield her from the impact of Santana's Shining Star Press. She retained as a result of the melee; I Believe In Wrestling has announced a No Disqualification rematch for their January 30th show and it will be for the title... LuFisto takes on Andrew Backlund in the finals of Keystone Pro Wrestling's Intercontinental Championship tournament on February 13th in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The promotion worked through its first two rounds on Friday and Saturday in Lancaster, as LuFisto defeated Kai Katana and Tim Donst. Backlund stood face to face with LuFisto following her matchup against Donst and pie-faced her before leaving the ring, with LuFisto vowing to be the inaugural titleholder... Kelly Klein defeated Solo Darling in a dark match before Ring of Honor's show on Friday in Indianapolis, Indiana... Two matches announced for PREMIER Wrestling's show on March 6th – Shayna Baszler goes one-on-one with Colleen Schneider in their promotional debuts. Inspire Pro Wrestling is going somewhere with this – Jessica James successfully retained the XX Division Championship against Hyaneyoung on Sunday in Austin, Texas. Accompanied by Mike Dell's stable, the up-and-comer gained a title opportunity in her second match in the business but was overcome by the veteran. Afterward, James proclaimed that she was "unhappy" with the current women's scene in Texas and wanted nothing but the best to challenge for the belt. It was announced by James, that Brittany Wonder would be making her official Texas debut at Inspire's February 28th show and she will be getting a shot at the championship upon her first trip outside California...
